I have, or perhaps I should say, had one of these living on the side of my bath. Small Sprog is a bit frightened of it and I have to admit it does look a little prehistoric. When I first saw it I thought it was an alien being that might fly upstairs in the night and slip into my ear while sleeping in order to take over my brain and turn me into......... But then, sometimes I can be a little over dramatic! I don't suppose anyone here would notice if I turned alien anyway!
Tall girl walked into the bathroom as I was getting out of the shower this morning. "That bug's done a poo" She exclaimed, and walked back out again. Bug detritus removal, that'll be my job then!
This evening, when I walked into the bathroom to help Small Sprog clean his teeth, there was a mushy black mess on the floor.
"WHAT is that?" I semi screamed to Small Sprog
"The bug" He said, looking sheepish!

It's probably a very rare insect nobody has ever seen before. You've probably committed a criminal offence by not despatching it immediately to the Natural History Museum.
Wouldn't be a bit surprised if it wasn't a protected species.

I have to say I've been noticing some really strange insects over the last few years - ones I never saw as a kid. I saw a moth the other day that I swear looked like the insect world version of the stealth bomber. Two sets of dark grey almost square wings sat at odd angles on its back. It really freaked me out. They're mutating, I tell you! Mutating!
I was going to say something witty and insightful but then I read Steve's comment and am now completely freaked out by the idea of mutating bugs!!

We love bugs of all sorts over here! Just not in the house, please. I usually encourage humane removal--but there are times we go for the "smoosh, wipe and throw away" removal as well. :D
This is one of the ugliest bugs I've seen! I draw the line when they enter the house--I'm on Small Sprog's side:)

I've seen those before! and I found out that it is a ladybug larvae....very strange how such an ugly little insect can turn into a pretty little beetle.

Thank goodness it is a squshy mess now thanks to Small Sprog, he is definitely my kinda guy!
