Friday night is disco night!

It was Small Sprogs school disco this evening. He loves the school disco. At school though, in his class, he doesn't have many friends. Most of the boys are very much 'Alpha Males', children with older brothers, from male orientated families. Small Sprog has a big sister, enjoys girls company and hates football. Sometimes I feel sorry for him, I wish he had a good friend, but then I am a girl, looking at the whole thing in a girly sort of way!

So on the way to school this morning I asked him if he was looking forward to going.
'Yes' he smiled
'Are any of your friends going?' I asked
'Think so' he replied
Now, as a girl, I would have already spoken to all my friends about what we were all wearing and where we were going to meet up. He had obviously not had any of those conversations, I worried about him being there without a friend.
'What are you going to do there?' I asked, wanting reassurance from him in a way, that he was going to be alright.
'Gonna have a larf' he replied nonchalantly!
Of course he was! What on earth was I thinking?!

It's Friday night with the weekend looming; of course he's gonna have a larf.

All boy skills in place there, I'm certain!

Sounds like he's got the right idea. Good motto for life, that is.

I hope he finds a few friends and has the anticipated larf! It sounds like he's set on having a good time whatever happens, which is a healthy attitude.

Word check: funmen!

sounds like you are well on the journey to finding out that boys just don't do what us girlies do.It's very puzzling. Have lots of mates rather than special buds ( that comes around fifteen I have found-the special bud thing.
Get used to the words 'good' 'fine' 'dunno''not sure' 'nothing much' (when asked what they have done at school all day etc).
But ...now and again... they will spill the beans.... just when you have given up and never think you will get any news.........it all comes...........

I love the way school's still call them "disco's" :-)

My daughter's school - which is an all girls grammar school have them some times at lunchtime, for charity things etc.

She hates them with a passion I think! :-)

Used to worry about this with my daughter, as she didn't have that many pals (not like Son who attracts em like flies and is definitely an alpha male). But she always had a super time at the school discos and that xxxx

There is nothing wrong with only having a few friends and not being into football...most of my male friends (and my husband) are not remotely interested in sports....

I hope he had a lovely time

Awww, It's amazing how place in a family makes a difference. My second son hates socialising like that.
I hope he had a good time. x

You see, there really is no need to worry! x

Being the mother of one girl and two boys, I can certainly see how the different sexes minds work! (oh not sure if that is good grammar but I am sure you know what I am trying to write there!)

Daughter would have been just as you say, but both sons are relaxed and out for a "larf" boys are sooooooooo uncomplicated.
