Did you miss me?!!
No?
Well, I haven't been here. I've had a minor escape to the country.
But meanwhile;
'Mum, Tall Girl has Bluetack in her mouth' Shouts Small Sprog from the back of the car
'No I haven't'
'Yes you have'
'Tall Girl, get that Bluetack out of your mouth!' I demand
'It wasn't in my mouth it was just touching my lips' She declares
'I don't care!'
I'm getting cross now, you can tell can't you?
'You don't know where it's been, give it to me'
'I'll keep it in my hand' she replies, but I know she won' t be able to resist, she is always chewing on something!
'No, give it to me!' I'm driving one handed now with the other behind my back, stretched out for her to deposit her sticky stuff.
'No'
She's tired but I can't let her win this one!!
'Put it in my hand now before I crash the car!'
She does.
A few seconds later-
'Owwww!' Small Sprog is complaining 'Tall Girl hit me'
'Didn't mean to'
Her standard line!
'Stop it both of you!' I look in the mirror, Tall Girl is poking out her tongue at him so he kicks her!
I could go on but I think you have the picture!

Excellent! Happy memories of 70s and 80s car trips...'If I have to stop this car, you'll be for the high jump!' The fear of God from one's irate mother!
You only have the whole summer hols to go!
:)
Only 6 weeks to go!
oh yes, oh yes.
today...
grit (while driving at 60mph on the A5 and three kids on the seat behind her, all strapped in): stop slapping each other!
squirrel: we are not slapping each other!
shark: we are playing tag.
tiger: and i am it.
I am glad you had a small escape to the country. If the kids were not there You would SO miss them! It might take you a few days~but you would miss them! Enjoy your break ~ Mine will be over in 7 days!! BooHoo!
Ah, the flailing hand from the driver's seat--it was bound to land on one of us! And lost count of how many times the car was pulled over to the side of the road--screeching halt, rear door thrown open to reveal two perfect angels! :D
Hope your break went well!
Glad you won that one with out crashing!! :)
Oh my gawd - I think I'm reliving my youth through your blog! This is so uncanny! However, I'm sure there was a time in most people's lives when this kind of thing happened.
Good luck for the rest of the summer....!!
Peter
heheh - and my word verification is 'ooehc' - just reminds me of 'ooh, eck!'
Yes, we missed you! This brings back memories of many trips driving with one hand and my head half turned around to see what was going on in the back seat. Nowadays everyone's trying to keep people from talking on cellphones while driving, but nobody's talking about banning kids in the backseat!
I missed you! How dare you go away and not warn us, your loyal readers?!
Bluetack in her mouth? Oh uckifee.
Welcome to my world! x
I love saying "do you want me to crash the car?" Obviously it still gets no response from the back of the car, but it reminds me of being my dad.
Kids wind each other up something silly. It drives me so demented, I can hardly even complete the task of making a cup of tea some days.
You mean the holiday only lasted two days!
I am with BS5. Ah the memories of the drive to the Cape with my siblings. Magical...not.
You may have a few more days like this! x
Was it a long drive?
It's worse when it's a long drive.
I think you should buy them foam bats and send them out into the yard to beat hell out of each other, wear each other out and then take them for a ride.
No energy to fight then.
;o)
Scarlett & Viaggiatore
I'm shuddering with the familiarity of that post!
Okay, I need to know what Bluetack is. Is it food?
Thanks for all your comments, the trouble is that this debarkle happened on the way home from school before the car journey for the weekend had even begun!!
Beth, Bluetack is a doughy like substance that you can use to stick things to the wall (like posters and photos). It's blue and tacky!!
Scarlett, great idea!
Cheshire Wife, no just a weekend break! The holiday starts next weekend.
Grit, that's funny!
Susan, only 7 days?!
Dori, angels?!!
Peter 'oo heck' indeed! All the time here ;)
Rose, you're right. They need a health warning!
My children are at high security Summer Camp this week, thanks for making me feel like they are still here! Fab blog. VLiF
