Another classic sprogism!

By the time I reached the hairdressers today I felt as though I'd done a days work. It was one of those mornings. My appointment was 9am!

I like my hairdresser. She doesn't chat too much, she's calm and serene and gives the most amazing head massage. She does often cut a bit too much off though, but it grows soon enough!

I picked Small Sprog up from school at 10.40 to take him to his dyslexic tutor. He was happy and chatty as usual and when we arrived at our destination we were a little early so we sat in the car together.
"Do you like my hair?" I asked him with a grin.
"Looks just the same as usual" He replied.
"I've had it cut, didn't you notice?!" It looked very different to me!
"No" He replied "You always look beautiful!"

Can you believe that? He's 8 years old and he already has the 'gift of the gab'. He definitely had a sparkle in his eye when he said it and I had to chuckle to myself. All those lucky girls of the future!

  2. Awww, bless him. They start young nowadays don't they? My No.2 told me last night he wasn't going to marry anyone else - because he already loved me too much. :-D x

  4. Don;t hey say a sons a son until he takes a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life (unless she is 13/14/15/16/17/18/19 or 20!)

my son is a darling thoughtful, kind, and never lets anyone put me down... methinks this will change when the girls come around but then they have been all year....
time will tell...as long as my daughter comes back to me...right now she is a daddy's girl..its his 50th tomorrow and they are going to the match together at night, and l'm working all day....
someone trying to tell me something?

    sigh...

  5. You're so lucky! Son, who's a little older (nearly 10), when asked to comment about my hair:
"Its rubbish". So make the most of your boy.

Do you find your hairdresser never does what you ask? Mine constantly cuts it too short. I'd look round for another one if I could be bothered.

  6. Sprog reminds me a little of 'Bertie' in the Scotland Street series of books. Have you read them? On the other hand you are certainly not like Bertie's mother!!

  7. Top skills to Small Sprog. You need to make that lad a super hero outfit.

Hey, c'mon, how come we don't get a haircut pic' that still respects your anonymity? Did you have a mohican or anything cool?

  9. Denise, lol!!

Aww Kitty that's so sweet. Long may it last, before we know it they'll be all smelly socks and monosylabic!

Staranger, mine will be the first to break though won't it?

Saz, yes, I know he's only on loan so try to make the most of it! Daughters and das are supposed to be close. Not so here, which is sad. I know what you mean about the teenage years, I wasn't keen on my mum during that time. I must try to remember that it works out in the end (hopefully!)
    Sorry you're feeling left out:(

Jenny, give him 2 years and he may have the same response as yours!

Lindsay, I haven't read these. What IS his mum like then?!

BS5, Can you suggest a way of photographing the hair without the face? A sensible one that is!!!!

Akelamalu, I think he's been here before!!

  10. Bertie is a thoroughly likeable young lad. Scotland Street is a series of books written by Alexander McCall Smith who wrote the series Ladies No.1 Detective Agency. The Scotland Street series are gentle, funny but thoughtful books. Bertie is very articulate and sensible but has a horrible bossy mother. There are many characters in the book who all live in flats in one building in Edinburgh. McCall Smith is writing an internet book called Corduroy Mansions - a chapter each day via The Daily Telegraph - just log on and sample a chapter.
