Success On A Plate!

Tall Girl came home full of school! She was positively buzzing with over excitement and she had had a great day. In fact she was positively loopy! Thanks to everyone who commented their good wishes, it's great to have such support.

In all the madness of the last few days Small Sprog has also started his new school.

I picked him up after his first day:

"Oops mummy" He said

OMG what has he done, I thought!

"I had a school dinner by accident!"

"How can you eat a whole school dinner by accident?"

"I had pudding too"

"By accident??"

"Yes" He said

"But I sent you to school with a packed lunch!"

It is 3.15pm

"Can I eat it now?" He replied

I guess new school makes a small boy hungry!

PS for those who've asked, I still have a major pain in the back! It's driving me nuts. I am trying to avoid the doctors but I may have to grit my teeth and go anyway. Even the strongest painkillers in the house don't seem to be making much difference at the moment.

Didn't mean to moan really!

  1. Suburbia you are not a moaner. Really sorry you still have trouble with your back. Try & think back to the weeks before you got that crick through leaning forward in the kitchen. The real problem thing you did, probably happened several weeks before that occurred. You might have injured it with some new thing you did or lifted.
Have you tried putting ice packs on the painful bit? Every hour or so but not for longer than twenty mins at a time. It really works.

Your young one made me smile. Quite a few children at the school where I work have eaten accidental dinners!

  2. Thanks Maggie, I'll try it tomorrow. It would be a more pleasant experience if the weather was hot outside though!

  3. Suburbia ~take care of you! You can moan all you want. I hope you start feeling better and remember it may take a Dr to do that!

  4. you should see a doctor as soon as possible, as the longer you leave it the worse it will get. Have you tried Solphedine (sorry about the spelling) they should give you some relief, but its only temporary. I have been there and done that with a bad back and I know what I am talking about....

Tip from Auntie Gill in Canada!!!!

  5. Glad that Tall Girl is excited about school. Sometimes it's harder on their moms than on them:)

I was wondering how your back was; do see a doctor about this. Even if they can't help immediately, it's a place to start and rule out some causes. I hope you can get some relief soon.

  6. So glad 'first days' went well!

The story of small sprog eating a dinner by accident reminded me of a post I did recently about one of my grandson's saying he bit his sister by accident! :0

  7. Oh Small Sprog is going to go far! He accuidentally had a pudding as well. Oh that's so wonderful.

Do go and see the doctor. I'm saying that on behalf of your husband. My husband had a bad back for ages and wouldn't go and see the doctor, just kept grumbling to me. It nearly drove me mad!

  8. I am so glad the first school days went well for the kids. :) I hate to hear you are still in pain. DO you have anyone that could recommend a good accupunctuist? Friends with chronic back pain swear by it.

  9. I caught my daughters with a backpack full of snacks and I asked them where they got them..

    the lunch line they replied...

No wonder I'm having to send 50 bucks every two weeks.

I'm going to start sending sack lunch.

  10. Hi Gill, do you know they always work for a bad headach but the solpadine don't work for my back at all, and it's the strongest painkiller I can find :(

Liz, Susan and Rose, OK I know, I do have to go to the Dr. next week.

Akelamalu I think he may have done that in the past too!

Scargosun, I have tried the osteopath and it has helped a bit. Never been to anyone with BIG NEEDLES though!!!

Hi Hammer, does that mean they'll eat both like mine?!

  11. Laughed at the school dinner story, guess they have moved on since I was at school.

Do take care with your back. It will seem like a huge burden has lifted once it is better.

  13. Yay! Well done for small boy eating dinners by accident. I have an image of him gleefully tucking into sponge pudding or something, regardless of the consequences! Sorry to hear about your back, they're weird things to sort out!

  14. That is so funny Small sprog must have enjoyed his first day at the new school.

Get yourself to the doctor with your back!! You don't want to end up with a bad back for years to come,

  15. Glad the children are doing well.
Have you thought of going to an osteopath? Try getting one referred by trusted friends.
My family are all medical, but the only relief I ever got was from the 'evil' other team........
    Greetings and best wishes.....

  17. Sorry to hear about your back, i slipped as disk years ago and still suffer now, durring that time i've had lots of advice and be it from the doctor or the physio or well meaning friend, most of it was wrong. the best bit of advice i got was listen to your body, if it feels comfortable then it can not be wrong (this includes sitting in strange positions and any movement you can get away with).
