The National Anthem was played on the radio the other morning at breakfast time."What's that for?"Pipes up Small Sprog.
"It's prince Charles's birthday" I explained
"What about the Queen?" He asks
"No she's had hers" I say
"I know what she does all day" He says in a very nah nah na nah nah voice.
"What do you think she does?"
"She sits around looking pretty of course"
Bless him I thought, how pleased she would be, a woman in her 80's, that a small boy thought she was still a beauty!! However I'm not sure he could pick her out in an identity parade!!
You will never be short of material for your blog. Kids are the makings of great blog posts! x
ReplyDeleteI'm slightly worried that he already thinks the function of a woman is to sit around looking pretty. I hope you pointed out her busy schedule of meeting and greeting and oiling the wheels of international relations (well, that and watching Corrie of course).
ReplyDeleteHe is such a sweet, thoughtful child.
ReplyDeleteSuburbia, you are definitely doing something right as a mother--Small Sprog is a treasure! Give him a hug for me:) (I bet the Queen would give him one, too.)
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to be quite envious of the amount of material small sprog provides you with for your blog! I wonder if I might borrow him?
ReplyDeleteWhat a good job that would be, wouldn't it? Sitting around looking pretty all day. I could manage the 'sitting around' bit, anyway.
The Queen is amazing for her age. She looked stunning in a red outfit the other day.
You can't go wrong being a sound, early Monarchist.
ReplyDeleteThis was seriously funny, but innocent at the same time, which I love having had smalls of my own.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest saw the Queen when she came to visit our town a long while back, and was seriously disappointed because she was not wearing a sparkley crown and full regalia.
Somehow he has never quite forgiven her, even it it was not her fault!!
Letty ;0)
Admittedly the Queen does look good for her age but let's face it she's had the best of medical attention whenever she's needed it hasn't she? I think she would be pleased at Small Sprogs remark though. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL..l'm not sure I cold pick myself out of one could you?!
ReplyDeleteNice one! Small sprog got the sitting around all day bit right! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the way little kids see things so simply.
ReplyDeleteI sometime wish i had kids, i get so stuck for things to write about, and Kep just sits there and never makes an amusing comment
ReplyDeleteOk, so what does he think Prince Charles is for?
ReplyDeleteI can see Small Sprog being an older woman's toy boy!
ReplyDeleteBrett, he does have a perfect profile for the camera though!
ReplyDeleteDotterel, I daren't ask!
I think that Small Sprog is the Prince.
ReplyDeleteScarlett & Viaggiatore
I think the Queen is wonderful too. And I'll bet Small Sprog could pick her out in an identity parade - she'd be the one wearing the crown!
