Small Sprog was very tired tonight, so I tried to get him into bed early. No sooner had I come downstairs again and there he appeared by my side. "What's the matter?" I said, just a little annoyed (because I'm tired too)
"I'm scared" He said with a wobbly lip.
I never know, when he does this, if he is genuinely scared or trying it on. He uses the same face for both!!
"What are you scared of?"
"I'm scared I might get scurvy"
"SCURVY?"
For goodness sake, what will he think of next!!
Where did he get that from?
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, apparently, Tall Girl told me later, they had seen something on the TV about scurvy! She says it showed people with skin on their faces which had turned green!! He does have a vivid imagination poor thing.
ReplyDeleteScurvey, watching too many pirate films! LOL
ReplyDeletehow went the birthday?

ReplyDeleteMy little 2 1/2 yr old grandson still remembers the thunder from a rather severe storm we had 4 months ago. Even tho he spent it cuddled with me on the couch, looking out the windows at it, to this day he'll hear a loud noise outside, cover his mouth, look at me with HUGE eyes and go "OOOH! OOOOH!" Kids are something, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely too many pirate movies! Of course, if Johnny Depp was in them, then that's a different story:)
ReplyDeleteHow did the birthday party go?
And they say its grim up north
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! Bless him!
ReplyDeleteYou could tell SS that if he does get scurvy all his teeth with fall out and he'd definitely have a shot at fifty quid for a job lot with the tooth fairy?
ReplyDeleteOh God, Surburbia, this is terrible but i don't actually know what Scurvey is. Its one of those things you know about and yet you don't.
ReplyDeleteBut bless him...
LOL where on earth did he hear that? :)
ReplyDeleteA perfect excuse to feed him oranges!
ReplyDeleteAaah! Poor little chap! I worry about getting scurvy, too. In fact I think that I might already have it. Green skin, did someone say??
ReplyDeleteIt's very real concern you know. Feed him more oranges.
ReplyDeleteAlways take stock of what they are worrying about, it may not be scurvy, it may be scurvy, he is worried about, but something is bothering him.
ReplyDeletePerhaps he has read or heard something about scurvy, or another affliction, and just wants some reassurance?
give him lots of hugs, and just see if you can wheedle out from him what started all this.
I used to have a night light, in the shape of a poodle, with red eyes. Dear god, it used to frighten me, but never told my Ma or Pa, and I used to stress out totally about the blinking thing.
Told them years later and we all laughed about it, but I needed help and sympathy way back, not then!
Little things bother them, check it all out.
That's the best "I can't go to bed because..." I've ever heard in my life.
ReplyDeleteI hope you let him stay up watching TV till 4 in the morning for that one.
HA HA HA HA HA...
