Bless him! I brimmed over with pride. He has a very generous and loving heart. He was born with it and would always share his last sweet with you even when he was really little.
However...
Once home he pulled the bag from his pocket and waved it in front of her nose singing "I've go you a present and you can't have it (yet)!" over and over! She was not amused.
Later, at bed time, I suggested that he gave me back the money I lent him for the present. Surely this was not unreasonable as it was a present from him that he wanted to buy, not one from me. He was shocked! Why did I need him to pay me back? I tried to explain. I'm not sure I did a very good job. "Polar bear will pay you in fluff mummy" he said, with a twinkle in his eye brandishing his favourite soft toy. So I explained that fluff wasn't the going currency of the day, but then again...............
He sounds like a lovely little boy but knows when he is onto a good thing! Funny!
ReplyDeleteOh, he's so cheeky, but smart! I so hope that polar bear fluff doesn't become legal tender. Now, dust would be OK. I've got plenty of that.

ReplyDeleteMy No.2 bought a PlayStation game with his birthday money last week, only he didn't have the money with him, so I paid. When I reminded him to pay me back, he said 'Oh ... I was hoping you'd forget' :-O

ReplyDeleteI have discovered never to buy anything for anyone else in the hopes they will pay you back later.....you always end up feeling bad and grovelling for the money or 'forgetting about it' except you don't. It niggles at you......
However, I never take my own advice.
Do you think he's ahead of the rest of us on global warming? Polar bear fluff may well be very precious in the future...
