So what did you do with yours?

The turkey I mean! What did you do with it?

By the second day of cold meat here, Husband had had enough. However the children didn't seem to notice they were eating the same thing over and over again, and I'm perfectly happy with the whole thing! Partly laziness on my part I think, because it's there and it's food so why not eat it? And also, while there is turkey left, I don't have to think of anything else to cook. However, tonight the Turkey Curry used up the very last bits. Shame really!

Anyway, in answer to some of your questions, yes, the small box under the tree contained my mothers ring, made by her father. It is very plain and also very precious. Thanks Mum. Strangely enough there were no leopard skin items anywhere to be seen, bless her, and she did spoil me this Christmas (as she always does because I am an only child you see!)

My favourite presents were my ring obviously, as well as a coat that mum bought me (told you I was spoilt), the champagne which Nephew arrived with and a candle which burns here next to my puter.

What was your best gift and why?

  1. We made thai green curry and turkey goujons with the first set of turkey leftovers and froze the rest. There is only so much turkey a family can eat.

My favourite present was having Bobo, the boys and their godmother all together on Boxing day. My next favourite present was a pair of pink leopard skin pyjamas. They are so cool and the warmest jammmies I have ever owned.

Glad you had the ring and a coat and that you have a mama that loves & spoils you:-)

  4. We had turkey curry on Boxing Day and another turkey roast to finish all the bits and bobs yesterday.
My favourite present was my Pandora bracelet which has charms on from other half, teenager and my friend Andrea who got me a teapot charm. Every charm is meaningful- I love it.
I love my chanel face cream too- it is such a luxury, and my skin loves it!

  5. Turkey crown did three meals then done! Recommend it.

My best present was my digital photo frame. Appeals to me on so many levels - photos, IT gadget, pictures of daughter, another item to adorn my newly decorated lounge, etc, etc.

  8. How green is your Blog? Nice!

I have to say I love having turkey and ham constantly after December 25th but as I ate at Ma and Pa's, there is none left here; it's all up the road. No harm at all in repeated eating of one thing, and wasting food is a big no no in my book.

My favourite pressie was toothpaste from my brother because it was thoughtful and silly and loving. Lots of other nice stuff too and all appreciated, but toothpaste all the way from Manila was best!

That candle won't last if you burn it every evening!

Thanks Saz, is your rabbit next for the vet or the pot??! It's a difficult decision between the two isn't it?!

  11. I would say the presents that gave me most enjoyment are both from my parents and they are 1)the ironing board cover that says 'this is not a toy' on the plastic bag - please can I play with it! and 2) the automatic vacu pineapple slicer given to Lurch - his face was worth every penny spent on it. Priceless!

  12. Like the jazzy new look!
Husband says to throw out the turkey.
    I can't manage to -I'm too thrifty.
    Visiting dog likes it though.
Best present was a family photo album put together by my sister in law on her computer.
Me in the 1950's very funny.......

  13. We didn't have a turkey this Christmas, but the Thanksgiving turkey seemed to go on and on...There are enough containers of turkey noodle soup in the freezer to last me through the winter:)

Glad you let us know about the ring. As for my favorite present, I am enjoying my new Wii Fit. But my favorite has to be the new jacket and bookstore certificate my husband got me. The best part of those presents was that Husband hasn't bought me a present in two years! I was just about ready to give up on buying him any more:)

  14. Everybody is intent on rubbing in the fact that they've had lots of turkey to eat up. Some people don't have a George to eat it for them. Some people are lucky.

  15. It was my first family Christmas with my own step-children. So my best bit was getting the presents for the boys spot-on. Oldest Son enjoyed his Elvan army of 1/72 scale tiny plastic soldiers, and Youngest Son was even more thrilled by his similar army of the Undead.

BTW, when Hulla says "we" made Thai Green Curry and Turkey Goujons, that's secretly code for "Bobo".

  16. ok Suburbia, your blog is fine now, I can read it ok!

    My best gift..........

well having my family around me, ok sounds a bit traditional etc, but I have missed my Sprogs. And having my hubby around too, and the silver necklace he gave me, oh my, it was so pretty and also very unexpected.

And, this next bit sounds a bit soft, but hey, I have had wine and am a happy bunny, so I will tell you.............

    Just knowing I was loved.

ps I am an only child too, lost both parents now, and wish so much I had made more of them while they were around and told them I loved them.

    Sad eyed Letty signing off.

Hope things turn out ok for you in 2009........it seems you are negotiating difficult waters.

    My thoughts are with you.
