The children have gone, but I thought I'd leave you with this one......
Small Sprog has made a new friend, who lives, some of the time, just down the road. They are both the same age and height, but Small Sprog has dark curls and the friend has long fair hair. The friends name is Gabriel, quite a name to live up to I always think, and not a name Small Sprog has come across before.
He came home after playing with Gabriel the other night; "She's coming to call for me later" he said.
"He's coming, you mean?" I replied
Small Sprog looked at me in a strange way.
"She's coming" he repeated
"It's a boy!" I laughed.
Small Sprog was puzzled. The friends hair was very long and he was quite 'pretty' for a boy I suppose.
"I thought she was a 'tom boy'!" Says Small Sprog, looking a little embarrassed.
Most of Small Sprogs friends are girls, so it was an easy mistake I guess. Well it could happen to anyone couldn't it?!
Well yes, I suppose it could!
ReplyDeleteFunny!
Oh how very cute! I hope it is not too quiet without the children
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww. x
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to know that at grass roots level gender doesn't really matter when choosing friends!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile suburbia :)
ReplyDeleteSteady On
Reggie Girl
Gabriel is a tough name to live up to, I would imagine! Children are always full of such moments of wonder, non?
ReplyDeleteI just realised there is a rain-effect on your umbrella picture - It's very lovely x
LOL! It's not really important, at that age, in the scheme of things, I'm sure. No doubt Small Sprog will have got the hang of this gender thing by the time it matters!
ReplyDeleteMy 10-year-old nephew had the most beautiful long, blond curls. He was constantly getting annoyed when people would call him a girl. I explained that it was the price he had to pay for such amazing hair! His best friend is a girl and they had almost the exact same hair--from the back they looked like twins. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteSS would have been in for a shock if he and the "tom boy" ever went swimming together! :D
As long as he doesn't think it's wrong for a boy to look that pretty....
ReplyDeleteWell I thought the Angel Gabriel was a girl for years because he was always played by a girl in the nativity play. So not so daft then!
ReplyDeletePoor Small Sprog!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend, even though your precous ones are away, make some time for yourself.
love and light,
Letty ;0))))))))))
I wonder if he checked up later ...
ReplyDeletepre-raphaelite curls perhaps?
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry. By the time he’s a teenager he’ll defiantly notice if it’s a girl’s long hair, Lol.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know - I have an award for you :)
ReplyDeleteCome see me - I hope you like it.
