Conversations with my Small Sprog

Small Sprog was sitting on the toilet this morning, swinging his legs backwards and forwards, not a care in the world, while I am trying to 'hurry him up' before we're late for school.

He is in a chatty mood. I need him to clean his teeth and get his shoes on, ready for school. He is in the mood to sit there until his legs go numb!

"Mummy?"

"Yes"

"What's constipation?"

"Nothing you will ever have to worry about my sweet" I giggle "You could poo for England!" I'm sure he poos out more than goes in, if you know what I mean!

"But I heard you telling Tall Girl she might get constipated"

"Yes, that's because she eats junk and doesn't drink enough" I retort "One day we'll turn up at the bus stop to pick her up and there will just be a pile of dust on the pavement because she's completely dehydrated!" At least that would cure the constipation, I thought to myself!

"Mummy?"

"Yes"

"What's dehydrated?"

"Oh, just hurry up"!!!!!!

  1. Hello Suburbia! I was just wondering how you're getting on. Obviously with a lot of explaining do to! x

  2. That sort of conversation could just go on forever! Was Small Sprog late for school? I can't think of one occasion when any one of my lads was ever constipated. I think that it was the Weetabix and other wholegrain cereals that helped!

  5. Ah... I remember the days of being able to idle the time away on the toilet for hours with fondness... now it's a 5 minute sprint. Hope that isn't too much information.

  6. On question inevitably leads to another.

Enjoy it now. Before you know it, he'll be bigger than you and patting your head and ruffling your hair as he walks past.

My son's 6 foot 8 and it drives me mad when he does it.

  7. Next question... what's intoxication? (Ok, maybe not for a while... hopefully!)

  8. !! How many hours have I sat on the floor in our downstairs loo waiting for young person to 'finish'. The chats are always question and answer, dont you find? Lovely post.

  11. These are the kinds of situations they don't explain in child-rearing books. Sounds like a normal day in suburbia:)
