On the way to the shops.........

"Mummy, can we listen to that old '80's music in the car?"
"I thought you didn't like it"
"I want to hear it again"
"The B52's you mean?"
"Yes" (small pause......) "Are they dead now?"
"I'm still breathing aren't I?!"
(Oh to be 12 again!)

  2. It's funny how our perspective changes isn't it? I remember thinking that people aged 30 or over were very old and now that I'm middle-aged, I think that they're just babies!

  4. This is the kind of remark I commonly get.

The latest was: 6 yr old *Are you 17?*

    Me: *No a bit older*

    6 yr old *101?*

    Everything so black and white.

  5. "that old '80's music" - scary. For me it's still contemporary. Mind you, I can remember listening to my parent's 60's music as a kid and thinking it was positively ancient...

  6. I do that all the time. If I haven't heard about some ageing celeb for a while, I always assume they must have croaked, and then suddenly they pop up on some chat show looking bright as a button. Perhaps they do it deliberately, just to tease us....

  8. So typical--kids that age have no concept of age:) My adult sons and I share a love for 80's music. Of course, some of my 60's favorites ARE dead!

  10. To be fair one of the original B52s is no longer with us... Ricky Wilson who played guitar died of complications due to AIDS in 1985...

  11. I've just spent the weekend working at a jumble sale, and all the 80's clothes were marked as "vintage". What?
