My lovely friend, who came along with her children, is just like a sister to me and we have had a very relaxing time, when we weren't cajoling the children to do stuff! We ate well, walked miles and laughed lots.
Driving home was a strange feeling though. All the time we were away I completely forgot Husband and how things are here. However as we drove closer to home, reality crept in and I began to remember that life is not as it should be.
I have become very attached to Small Sprog this week. I don't want to contemplate his next holiday, which will be spent away from me. Still, it has been fabulous to be free and be together just us three. Time will tell the rest of the story.
Hugs xxx

ReplyDeleteWelcome back
It sounds like you've had a fabulous time - a good way to refresh the soul.
ReplyDeleteWell done to you and your friend for making such a special time for the kids and yourselves.
ReplyDeleteHaving just come through a fortnight without the kids, I can relate to your sadness about being without them.
However, there distinct advantages:
Reading a paper all the way through without distraction.
Watching weepy mummy stuff on tv without having to explain and then just wallowing in missing them.
The great excitement when they return.
Taking up new weird and wonderful forms of dance.
Staring out of the window and drinking coffee.
Doing no washing up or clothes washing for days and days and days.
Catching up with friends and having proper continuous conversations.
Knowing that the bond you have with your children is strong that no distance and no time can weaken or break it.
big hugs

ReplyDeleteI completely empathise with your feelings over the children going away without you...I cannot imagine it at all. It is something I will have to face up to in the future and I have no idea how I'm going to do it either.
