It has snowed so much that everyone has been at home today, everyone. Bum. It was my day off and I had not planned to be snowed in with Husband et al. It had the potential to be a little like Christmas day without the vital alcohol and festive cheer. He doesn't plan to go anywhere tomorrow either.........
In the bath today Small Sprog could be heard shouting at the top of his voice 'Muuuuuuum'
I rushed in, wondering what I'd find.
'Look!' He shrieked 'I've made a lobster!'
He points to a vague array of bubbles
'Lovely' I smile at him, no need for panic then!
'Actually it's turned into more of a crab now' He complained 'You took too long'
Well, if it was a matter of life or death I'd have sprinted, for goodness sake.
Did I wish you all a happy new year?!
Happy new year Sub...hope it turns out to be happier this new year, new day, even new week...
ReplyDeleteusually we wouldn't mind being holed up would we, but so soon after christmas.....l'm a bah humbug now...kids wont play games, bake or anything with ME...
this is a harsh change in pace...not sure how l shall cope or manage...but with friends here...l havent yet quite felt 'alone'...
love saz x0x
I used to love snow days--it meant a day off from school! But after a few days home with all the kids and Husband, I couldn't wait to get out again:) Hope you can get out soon, Suburbia. Too bad you missed the lobster:)
ReplyDeleteMakes me cranky too.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about this city that schools have to close, buses can't run and everything grinds to a halt because of the snow.
Other countries must be laughing their heads off!
Nuts in May
Makes me cranky too! Husband has gone to work today... horribly icy so hope he is OK. Hope your washing machine is replaced soon...nothing worse than huge piles of washing and no end in sight! x
ReplyDeleteCranky? Me too!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing for it, if the big freeze is continuing for another fortnight and we're all snowed in, we'll just have to have a second Christmas! Only trouble is, we probably can't get to the shops to buy all the festive food. Drat.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too - hope your laundry blues (and others) get sorted out sharpish!
ReplyDeleteIt did invoice roast beef, though! :-)
ReplyDeleteSnow day pah!
ReplyDeleteOur school is on a main road, 90% of the kids walk in and yet it's still closed again today! There are external exams on monday and the website declares they will go ahead whatever the weather - so why not try and open now - whatever the weather?
No work is set via the website, it's too cold to go outside so my girls are bored stiff, and seem to spend all day on the PC or DS or watch endless reruns of Friends! Can you tell I've have enough.
I meanwhile am attempting to write a HUGE essay.
So I am joining in with the Bah humbugging & general grumpiness & crankinesss with the situation.
PS HAPPY NEW YEAR I hope it brings you happiness & peace :)
Happy New Year sweetie
ReplyDeleteYes, the snow has screwed up my week - am a prisoner here NOT of my own device! It must be even worse on your day off.
Bless you. will think of you xxx
Ditto!
ReplyDeleteI was off sick yesterday so behind on work and can't get there today. Schools shut so everyone was home.
The internet connection died right in a call with 4 people (I use an internet phone for work calls) I went really cranky, stomping about...
I'm alone now the kids have gone to the woods to take photos and the Mrs has gone to make sure her Mum is alright... think I need to say sorry when they get back :-(
And I'm the opposite, I'm in a house with lots of rooms and just the two bichons to fill up the space (Mr FF is working in Paris now).
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some space just for you very soon
xx
(and the washing machine fixed)
Oh dear, a broken washing machine, stir crazy and the lobster's turned into a crab. I hope things change soon! :)
ReplyDeleteNo washing machine and snowed in i feel for you. I do hope the snow dosnt last much longer as am planning to get up to Bristol if i can next week!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you get your washing machine sorted out and also everything else that you want to get resolved this year.
ReplyDeleteWe never had days off school because of snow when I was a child and it snowed every winter where we lived in Yorkshire. What has happened to this country?
Your Small Sprog is the most clever, funny boy I know. Bless him. XOXO
ReplyDeleteScarlett & Viaggiatore
PS- you know, you could throw the clothes in his bath and ask him to get to work on those while he's in there... ;D
We're getting pretty snowed in in Belfast now. The snow from Wednesday is still there and this morning we have more snow. So now we can all stay at home and watch the unfolding saga of the naughty Robinsons.
ReplyDeleteHmmm broken washing machines and stir-craziness - not fun hon. Take care and soon things will look up. It has to thaw sometimes - doesn't it?!
ReplyDeleteSS and I would get on well: I make sculptures out of bubbles too ...
ReplyDeletehope you are ok....you are very quiet...how was the mediation..
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year hon...I really hope that 2010 brings you more happiness than 2009 did and good luck with everything...we're all rooting for you!!
