Because I am bored!

Now I know that sounds ungrateful but I am really BORED! Perhaps it is because I have been having a ball of late, or perhaps I am not taking my own advice and living for the moment, but right now I'm not in much of a moment!

Tall Girl is bored too, so is Small Sprog, but he is watching TV so that has ameliorated his boredom for now. We have been out today, briefly and we have had fun, but now it just feels really boring! This evening I have suggested a walk, cooking, making things, but all to no avail. What we all crave is company and that is the problem. Everyone else is out having a good time! Yep, absolutely everyone in the whole world! You must know that feeling? You ring your friends and they're out, you text and no one answers, you read peoples blogs and they're off to somewhere warm and sunny, I've even been on my Facebook page, and I have to be pretty bored to entertain that! No one is on Google chat, not even my Mum, even she's having fun somewhere!

Sometimes it does you good to have a good moan!

(Do you know, I really am looking forward to going to sleep tonight!)

What did you do today?

  1. I'm at that point in life where I actually embrace and enjoy boredom.

  2. Gosh, I know this feeling very well.
Particularly on an English Sunday afternoon.
However, you will be happy to know that it does pass --and pretty quickly.

Shakespeare describes it pretty well in one of his sonnets which I will have to look up...!!!

  3. This is a poem about feeling grumpy and thinking that
EVERYONE else is having a super time.....and is better looking and more talented and has more friends and all that stuff!!!

    the ending is lovely!!!

    SONNET 29

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
    With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
    From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

  4. Well I have had a good day. Son took me to a garden centre with the grandchildren.

However now we are alone. Just the TV and knitting and I am having an early shower & will put on my night attire and a dressing gown & will watch *Dorothy* on BBC1.
Now can you get anymore boring than that!!!!!!?

    Nuts in May

  5. Hopefully you'll get to know some of your new neighbours and get friendly with them. It's very naughty of your existing friends to be so incommunicado. And what's happening with Significant Other?

If you're really desperate, how about a board/ bored game or two? Do you play chess? Have you taught TG and SS yet?

  6. Yes Nick, have taught them but sadly left the chess board at previous abode! SO otherwise engaged, so inconsiderate!

Maggie, sounds peaceful and lovely :)

Thanks Elizabeth, yes it is definitely a Sunday afternoon feeling! Like the sonnet, thanks for looking it up for me.

Steve, I am trying to embrace it but it is an annoyingly wriggly type of boredom!

  10. I hate to admit to having had a cracking Sunday when yours was dull - but I will. I went out for a lovely lunch at our favourite gourmet restaurant (ma-in-law came too). We ate beautiful food, drank too much and then got back and had to have an afternoon snooze. Then we froze taking the bichons for a walk and thinking it was as warm as the Saturday. Then we watched a funny film for about the fourth time - '40 year old virgin' and went to bed. I'm giving my Sunday an 8 out of 10 rating.

What would you give yours - or would we be in minus figures?

  12. I had a really busy day yesterday. I spent a couple of hours in the garden planting some stuff and replanting my hanging baskets. Then I made Sunday lunch, but I sat outside in the sunshine reading whilst it was cooking. After lunch I cleaned the kitchen then relaxed watching television for the evening. All in all quite a productive and enjoyable day. :)

  13. Oh Sub, i've had many saturday nights like that. While husband catches up on "lost", I text and call anyone - and yes, they're always out doing something.

I babysit with an agency on those saturdays - i might as well be earning money while being bored. xxxx

  14. I'm making myself stay up now because i think i should - when i'd rather be in bed, curled up with my book. I saw your bored post on facebook! there's always tetris?!!

  16. We should have got together! I felt the same way on Sunday, no-one was around so like you I was craving company. Must have been something in the air!

  17. Do you want to know what I did today?? I went to the local landscape recycling center to get some compost for my garden. What I didn't realize is that they don't bag it for you--you have to do it yourself. So there I was next to this huge mound of wet dirt, shoveling it by hand (forgot my garden gloves at home) into big bags that I could only half-fill because they were too heavy otherwise for me to lift into the car. Now, doesn't your day sound better?:)

  19. I have been away from the blogging world for a while as you might have gathered, but reading your blog recently I am picturing a tiny bud opening into a lovely flower that represents your new life unfolding. May it blossom into a huge sunflower for you and the kids. They will get used to it (you all being apart from their father, as mine did when they realised I was a happier, calmer, and less worn down Mum, and there was much less shouting and atmospheres) and it will all fall into place for them too. They will settle into their new routine and new life and see that it's for the best. I wish you much happiness and a brighter future. You're a lovely Mum, and they're lovely kids. All the best to you all in your new life. x
