Another Small Sprog post!

''Mummy?''
''Yes?''
''Lots of people at school swear''
'Do they?''
''Yes''
''You don't though do you, not at school?''
''No, but I know what all the words mean''
''Do you?''

I look at my beautiful son, his large brown eyes twinkling with mischief, his soft brown curls adding to his cheeky charm.

Which ones do you know then? I ask. He says them by initial - F, S, and C. ''Ah! You know what the C word means?'' I am slightly surprised at this revelation, he is only 9 and a half.
''Yes'' He giggles. I stare at him questioningly.
''Crap!'' He shouts jubilantly
''Oh!'' I say, relieved, ''That C word''!

He giggles and carries on with his meal, my lovely boy, my lovely, almost innocent boy.

  2. Phew! Had to catch my breath.
It is sad when their innocence gets tarnished.
We have noticed Millie's behaviour changing from a good little girl to a child with attitude since she started Reception.
Isn't it a pity when their peers influence them so much! Sigh......

  3. Ah yes, fascists, socialists and conservatives. Very nasty words those. He should wash his mouth out immediately....

  4. Ah, dear Small Sprog! I was racking my brain to come up with a "C" word...thank goodness, that's the one he knows:) Kids know so much more about these things today than when I was young; it's sad to see their innocence disappear so quickly.

Sorry I missed your last post--I just realized they're not showing up on my blogroll now. Now, I have a question for you--what are "conkers"?

  6. Innocence is far too fleeting, my dear friend.
