They know you know...

I am being stalked. Really I am, or so it feels.

I click onto my Gmail and there's a reply from Tall Girl about making Sheep Cupcakes. Then I notice, along the band at the top there is a little advert that says 'Lakeland, the home of creative baking'. And do you know what? I actually click on it, just to see and there it is, all you need to make beautiful cakes, but how does Google know?

Then later, as I'm reading an email from Mum about fitting sensors to my window in the kitchen, I notice Google helpfully asking the question "Need new windows and doors?" No! I think, I do not need new bloody windows and doors, just go away and stop hassling me.

Then I send a terse email to Significant Other, with one eye on the blue advertising bar, which suddenly changes from baking to ask soothingly if I need 'Love Relationship Advise'. Ask him, I hiss to it!

Then I try to catch it out. I flick through some old emails and find one from earlier that has NHS advice on heart palpitations. Have a gander at this, I shout at the screen. And sure enough it hears me 'Business Photocopiers, call us with your requirements'

Gotcha!

Mind you, perhaps I should be doing something a little more constructive with my time?

I know how you feel. It has gotten so crazy with all the advertising and ease dropping from Google. I do my best to ignore it, but sometimes I tell you...

Google is a new god. There'll be shrines erected any day now. All virtual, of course.

You could have a lot of fun with this...maybe send yourself a few emails on random subjects and see what happens...I don't normally condone lying, but my T*esco Cl*ubcard family is a little bit different to my real one: I'd say their computer gets hopelessly confused :)

Can't say I've been having this problem. Perhaps it's because of my Mac computer. Perhaps its because I have a different server and email program.
Hope you can either get rid of, or learn to live with, all this nuisance stuff.

It is weird. I'd written something that had briefly mentioned Husband when it comes up with Dating for Singles - wait for - over 50. How do they know I'm over 50? And why if I mention Husband do they think I want a date? And in particular a Polish date?

Google is all knowing. I love it, but at the same time wonder if its evil.

Definitely scary! I keep getting ads for hearing aids--now, why would they think that??

Hello Suburbia, long time, no read of your blog! Life has been a tad too busy here, and I have fallen way behind in the blog world. Horrified just now to find out last time I wrote on my blog, it was July 2010!!

Time flies! How much I agree with the google snooping! It happens on Facebook too. But what does bug me on facebook is the adverts which appear on my wall for the solution to the menopause, or the reduction of a fat belly. Neither of which are of any interest or use to me! LOL!

I hope you are doing ok?

Letty xx
