Belated Happy New Year

A belated Happy New Year! We're into the fourth day and 2013 feels just like 2012. Right now work is looming and I find myself counting the days left before returning and therefore not enjoying the moment. In fact the whole two week break has been a whirlwind of 'things' which have counted down the days for me. I sound ungrateful, I'm not but I want more time! Why do I feel compelled to fill every minute and then have no 'free' time? Do you do that?

Just to help things along time wise, I've started (or rather was invited to start) a 365 in 2013 instagram project ( #2013inpict ). I am ridiculously excited! I must miss being creative more than I realised.

Anyway New Years Day was a glorious day weather wise and so the first photo for the project is one I took on our walk that morning. Lovely Man's parents live on the Herefordshire/Welsh border and the picture was taken from Kerne Bridge, near Goodrich. The water, in the photo, is the River Wye which has engulfed several fields where the river has broken it's banks. Sadly there's not been much sun around since that day but this one day of blue sky was a perfect way to start my photography project.

So despite almost constant rain for weeks the Christmas Rose has, amazingly, withstood the wet weather and is in bloom in the back garden, I'll take a photo if it when I can squelch safely across the lawn! And the snow drops are coming up by the front door - though slightly chewed by something, possibly snails I guess.
And here we are, the right side of the longest day and I am wishing time away - again - until spring is here.

Four years ago I was planning my escape. Time passes, I look back, I look forward, and my New Years Resolution should be - if I ever made them - to enjoy and live for now. Perhaps stopping in a moment to take a photo a day will help me along with that one?

I returned to work last Wednesday and rather depressingly already feel like I'm mired once more into drab routine. Roll on the next holiday!

To perfect living for now seems to be a good one to make. Yes..... I'll go for that and to keep on writing.

Love the photo. Looks tranquil even though the water is not meant to be there and the poor farmer won't be pleased.

Congrats on the photography project.

I'm trying to enjoy the moment this year, too; I've spent too much of my life counting days as well. Your Christmas rose and the snowdrops must be welcome sights. Hearing the name the River Wye reminds me of Wordsworth--what a beautiful place to walk this must have been!

Perhaps you should reserve half an hour a day "me time" to put all the everyday tasks aside and just do whatever you want to do for a little while (like taking photos)?

The Herefordshire/Welsh border is very pretty. Many years ago Jenny and I drove down to Hay on Wye to visit the bookshops. A most enjoyable weekend.

Why do we count the days I wonder? X

Love the new look and the photo, especially as it was taken very close to where I grew up :D

You sound really positive and excited about the next 12 months. It's lovely to hear you write like this.

I tend to sit at the computer for ages and then be tired and wish I'd gone to bed earlier. I say 'I will tomorrow' but don't!

Lovely photo. What is instagram?

"Happy New Year!" said the Bear, belatedly.

Stuck out my snout and discovered it's still winter. Sigh. Oh, well; back to hibernating. Blessings and Bear hugs!

Oh, yes; TG is awesome! Loved the pic.

Happy New Year to you and yours :-)

So excited to read about your photography project...where can I see the fruits of your labours? Since you cheered me on when I did my drawing-a-day for a year last year the least I can do is return the favour :-)

Happy belated new year to you and yours Suburbia! Not blogged for ages life has been so busy. I started a 365 photo blog last year but sadly found the pressure of a photo a day way too daunting. But i wish you luck with yours! Letty xx

Hi Carol so sorry for talking ages to get back to you. I think you've found my pics on FB now, actually we are all posting on a closed group on FB but I can't seem to get photos on there from my phone without first putting them on my own page, so they're there by accident really! Also all are taken on instagram, it's a great place to get an instant kick of artistic flare with ease!
Thanks for visiting :-)

I'm glad that you're OK and that you have found Lovely Man. I have had a real struggle to sign in to blogger after 2 years' absence, but it was worth it. Things haven't been easy for you, but you have pulled through from the sound of it. Lots of luck for the future.
