Almost daily diary!

I have something wrong with my mouse finger. My mouse finger you understand. Not my mouses finger! If I ever, ever, decide to get another furry rodent type pet that you keep in a cage, then you can just delete me because I 'll deserve it!!

So, my mouse finger hurts. Yes, I know I'm whinging again but, you know, sometimes that's what a diary is for. Oh and I know you're reading it, so I should say something jolly, and today is a jollyish sort of a day, it's just that something is wrong with my mouse finger. I think it's the onset of arthritis or rheumatism or gout or something! Probably (also) to do with vast amounts of alcohol which I have been consuming for the following reasons:

It helps my back pain (whinge, whinge)

We had friends for Sunday lunch (so you have to be sociable don't you?!)

I prefer to feel a little light headed (it makes everything look so much better!)

I have something wrong with my mouse finger (OMG I'm getting old before my time)

The problem with having something wrong with your mouse finger is that scrolling and clicking become a bit painful. Well, on a scale of pain it's certainly not childbirth! More like discomfort I guess.

So if anyone has a solution (and I realise a healthy diet would help, cut down on alcohol etc.) Then I'd love to hear (read) it. Meanwhile the sun is shining (so it can't be the damp!) and there are a million jobs to do. So what am I doing here?!

I am left handed and although the mouse is designed for right handed fingers (and those are the ones that get using it mostly) I sometimes try putting mouse on the left side of the keyboard just to mess with my brain. Although, I understand using your opposite hand for such activities actually helps your brain's motor neurons. So if that doesn't help your finger by giving it a rest at least you'll be helping your brain. And for that you deserve a drink.

Wish I had a great remedy for you, but all I can think of is ice and/or heat, gentle massage, and rest--probably stay off the computer for awhile, but who wants to do that?:) I hate to tell you, but once I turned 50, I began to have a new "pain of the week".

Sorry I haven't been around the last couple days--I've been a little under the weather. Congratulations on your new award! And thanks for your concern about our weather. We got the good benefits of Hurricane Ike--some rain and wind, but no real storms. Where I live in the Midwest, hurricanes don't affect us, but we're prone to tornadoes, especially in the fall and spring. At least with a tornado I can hide out in my basement. Those in Texas and Louisiana haven't been so lucky.

Oh Mouse finger, I see!

Did your friends mind that you appeared to eat them for Sunday lunch?

Do you have a decent mouse or a bog standard one? Do you have a gel pack or foam wrist rest to support your wrist? Lots of offices have them to make sure undue pressure is not put upon tendons and things, and therefore fingers too.

See if this link works with a copy and paste into your browser, or just Google 'wrist rest mouse':

Don't give up on wine!

Well....... I once went to the doctors in my 30s when I started to get twinges all over the place & he said, "What do you expect once you are over 35! It is general wear & tear arthritis!" Can remember getting a bit upset at the time! I cannot remember exactly how old you are so it might not apply to you!
Anyway, grit your teeth cos it does continue!
Might the remedy be to not use your mouse quite so much! LOL

RSI due to blogging I expect. Violet Sky - I am also left handed which annoys Husband, well actually annoys us both because the mouse mat has to get shuffled around - perhaps I should get two!

Sub,

I have just sussed out what your 'Black Boxes' choice thingy is about but I am certainly having another go as the match was not one I would brag about! :)

I have started my Sainsbury prep' by tackling the numbers.

I fear an RSI-type ailment. And the only solution to that would be to stop blogging. And that would never do!

I will never, ever give up my track ball mouse! Fits my hand perfectly and I can scroll for hours without the fatigue!

Ah, wine. I miss you so. Now I just go through my days jacked up on caffeine! Not quite the same...

Maybe a hangnail that got infected? I really hate those. I'd tell you to try an anti infammatory but you are probably already taking those. :) Maybe you slept on it in an odd way.

Thanks Violet I'm going to try that. Don't know why I didn't think of it!! Love your cat by the way :)

Rose, I like your idea of 'pain of the week' ! It made me laugh. Maybe you don't have to reach 50 to join in!
Your country has been very badly battered of late. And not just weather wise either. Glad you have not suffered unduly.
Sorry you have been unwell. Hope you are on the mend. I'll be over later and hope to send my next award straight to you :) x

BS5, I knew someone would pick me up on that! They were very tasty as it happens ;)

Maggie, I 'm over 30 so no offence taken!! The trouble with gritting you teeth though means that it is harder to talk ;)
I couldn't possibly abandon my computer now could I?!

BS5 (again!) Feel free to black box anytime!

Dotterel, no, that would be too difficult.

Dori, I shall have a glass for you!
Caffeine doesn't work for me, it just makes me anxious.

Scargosun, I laughed a lot! Thank you. I have a strange image of sleeping on my finger the wrong way!!
