Small Sprog the diplomat

'Would you like to sit in the back seat Tall Girl?' Says Small Sprog grinning. How could she refuse?!

I have an ongoing battle with both of them about who sits in the front seat of the car. They can battle about whose turn it is when we are only going on a 5 minute journey, let alone a 'proper' journey! It's endless.

I have asked them to take turns, be sensible and share. I have threatened that if they can't sort it out themselves then they'll both go in the back of the car, always. I have suggested that they could try being kind to each other, along the lines of; 'Would you like to go in the front today, My Lovely Sister'! None of these really works, surprise, surprise!

Until yesterday evening on the way back from Small Sprogs Extra Maths. They both ran to the car, racing and jostling for position, Small Sprog slightly ahead, reached the door, opened it wide and said 'Would you lie to sit in the BACK seat Tall Girl?' I did laugh, rather than offer the front seat, he limited her choices to the worst option! She just had to take it! I wonder how long he'd been thinking about that one?!

He's off school poorly today, I'm not really sure he is really poorly at all, while I sit here with him and worry about the fact that I am having another day off work due to child sickness. . .

Hurrah for having been an only child - daddy's spoilt princess and mummy's darling.

I always manage to get a front seat because of my long legs. Sitting in the back is torture. Other passengers are always very understanding! If Small Sprog ends up with long legs, he'll have no seating problems....

Mine both sat on the back to save arguments...one on the liverpool side??? one on the Manchester united side??? the car is red, perhaps that is it...

its funny now, girl is 18 and boy is 15 and whenever they both get in the car..they automatically get in the back!!I smile to myself and think is funny, l haven't mentioned it yet, only here!!

I remember having that sort of front seat fixation when I was younger. I also remember having to sit in the back of the van during my first job after leaving school. Being the youngest and all that.

Small Sprog definitely has a future as a diplomat or perhaps a businessmas:) Do your kids use the expression, "I call shotgun"? I didn't know if that's an American thing or not, but my two oldest grandchildren both shout this out to indicate they're claiming the front seat. One time I had both of them, and they ran to the car, just as Tall Girl and Small Sprog did. I got in behind the wheel and looked over to find they had disappeared! They were on the ground wrestling each other to see who got to sit in front:) Ah, kids--someday they'll whine because they have to ride with you instead of driving their own car:)

Brilliantly done.

I'm glad it's not just us that has these hassles.

Now however with son at uni it's normally daughter beating my wife to the passenger seat! I wonder now why only a couple of years ago getting a car for her with 4 doors seemed such a priority and the reason she never got the mini she really craved.

Oh yes the car seat arguement. Wait until they're older you won't want either in the front because they tune the radio to all sorts of c**p!

My only boy is good at spoofing re. school, they do seem to do this more than girls - i think they find school more boring! Ah well a few extra cuddles won't hurt either of you and work will cope.
