Friday night is curry night!

Friday night is curry night!

A Christmas outing with the girls. We are friends, brought together only by the fact that we gave birth within the same 2 months. That was 14 years ago.

We are diverse; medical, educational, artistic, scientific, all brought together by chance, yet women with so much in common. Our talk ranges over many subjects, children, men, work, men, holidays, men! We discuss what happens when you Google 'Thermos lunch box' and how parental controls are for kids not to protect the parents, though that would have been useful in this case! We pick up snippets of conversation from those around us. The men in the next booth are discussing 'Mankinis'! We take a look, trying to be discrete. We cannot imagine any of them owning such a garment (there are some amongst us who need a blow by blow account of what one actually is!) There is much giggling. It is good for the soul.

At about 6pm this evening the last thing I felt like doing was going out and socialising. I was all for curling up exhausted in a heap. But I made the effort and it was such a tonic.

The company of women. You can't beat it. I am raising a glass to 'The Sisterhood'. I am happy.

Oh how I wish I could have joined you :). I don't get out nearly enough these days. Do I really have to wait for the better weather lol? I hope your refreshed soul brings you peace and joy this weekend. Oh and you still need to give me a kick up the ar*se to get my Christmas tree up.

I quite agree with you!
Hard to think of going out on a cold evening when you're tired.... but well worth the effort when you get to do it.!
I was at a social gathering myself last night and another one to go to tonight!
Theres nothing quite like the company of women for a really good night out and a laugh! lets drink to that!

Sometimes I envy female friendships. Male friendships just aren't the same.

There's nothing like a night out with "the girls"! I've often dragged myself to something like this when I think I'd rather stay home on the couch, but I'm always glad I did. It's the best energizer there is. Glad you had such a great time. Now I'm wondering about "Thermos lunch box" and "mankini"...:)

Sounds like "the pasta girls" a collection of my wife's closest friends, who are a diverse bunch with one common theme... they all now have children who have turned 20 this year. Yes what was a mother and toddler group for new Mums is still going strong, they are out on Saturday somewhere... having pasta probably :-)

You are right... it is a tonic. I've known those nights when all I wanted to do was curl up at home, but I had a prior commitment and I went anyway and wound up having such a fabulous time.
:D

Merriest of Christmases to you, dear lady, and a very Happy New Year.
