ABC Wednesday...................P for poppy

This week the letter P

P is for Poppy
It is remembrance Sunday this weekend so poppy seemed
a logical choice. However this poppy in my garden
(unlike the wild red variety)
is rather too pink and frilly for my liking,
but once the petals have fallen..............

the velvety appearance and the colours become fascinating.

Wonderful colour, and is it tinged with frost?

We had several of these on our allotment this summer - I wanted to remove them for fear that the seeds would bring even more next year to the detriment of my vegetables, but Mrs DeeJay won the argument to keep them "because they are pretty"!

We've got new poppies in the field in Autumn. That's quite strange.

Lovely photos, Suburbia! Sometimes the seed pods or the leaves are just as beautiful as the flowers themselves. Great choice for P!

Lovely poppy seed photos! What a good idea, taking them in close-up!

In California we have the low growing bushy type -- they are a golden orange...

Poppies are very special to us in the UK around this time of year. I lkie the way you have photographed these, equally as beautiful and far more interesting than full bloom.

Your photos are great, even if you don't like the colour.

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful! I've always loved poppy seed-heads, but I've never seen one coloured like this. And your photos are perfect.
Thanks for the visit. Find me any child that doesn't go for glittery, shiny stuff! I think that's why I like it - I stayed a child ;)

This won't be a very original comment! Just want to say you have a talent for finding the beauty in everyday things. Love the angles on this one!

The POPPY is a PERFECT choice for our P-day! Gorgeous photos, too. I have some red poppies in my garden but they bloom in the late spring, early summer. Right now they're dormant. I should have posted a photo of them instead! :D

Lots of poppies posted today but this one is unusual without the petals. Very intricate design.
