Facebook

At my daughters request I have relaunched my Facebook account. She is my only friend! She has thrown a snowball at me, and we have had an electronic chat regarding who should go and fetch the hot drinks and biscuits (of which there are only four left because she had eaten most of them earlier!) It is fun and I feel trusted that she wants me to be able to see her page, though I'm not sure if that will last! She is washing her hair now, we discussed it on 'chat'!

After she had gone I scrolled down her page. One entry stood out, it said: Fed up coz mum and dad won't stop arguing. Sad, and not entirely true, it is mostly a strained silence. Perhaps that is what she means. I left a one word comment - sorry-. At least, like me, she has a place to vent.

PS. I have just had a message from her, it says

- OK about the arguing -

I am counting my blessings.

My teen loves facebook and now I have a page too. I love playing Fairyland- very therapeutic. I love the snow on your page and I am jealous of it

Communication - through any medium - is always, always a good thing.

Yup, you got a gem of a chance to communicate on another medioum with her. Just read you last post re Boxing day, oh how lucky you are to be getting away at some point. He is surely quite selfish man.

I think Steve has it on the money there...

Also, did TG really eat the majority of the biscuits?

Keep up the line of communication as it is and will be good for both of you.

Don't feel bad about it, Sub. Tall girl understands really.

Don't talk to me about Facebook. I seem to have a huge amount of people on my page thing that i'm never likely to meet. And everytime I leave a message for an old school friend, Facebook keeps wiping it (eg this page has expired) . Rubbish! Bring back Friends Reunited I say. xxx

I don't think any children like to hear their parents arguing, but I doubt there are many families where it doesn't happen. Tall Girl's reply shows how much she cares for you; she wants you to know she understands.

I joined Facebook this fall just to communicate with my Daughter in Oregon. I don't get on very often, and I'm not as addicted as some people, but it is fun--not as much as blogging, though:) I'll gladly be your friend if you would like!

Sounds like she has been brought up well.

It sounds like a useful extra channel of communication for you - and free from husband's interference. I don't yet talk to Jenny via Facebook but no doubt it will happen at some point! I think I said before that my parents' arguments really upset me, but hopefully your arguments/ tensions will cease post-divorce.

Modern technology can be therapy.
At least you said sorry. Bet half the children in school have a similar set up. Don't worry.

I detest Facebook, I am on there intermittently, but I really dislike it.

My Three are all on there, and I feel I do not need to know what they are getting up to.

Sometimes it is better I think, not to know what is going on out there, or what they are thinking.

Although perhaps it is just me........

Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog!

Ah...facebook...they've had to change so much since it's no longer just students on there! My dad got on and his friends outnumber mine by the hundreds! It's always fun deciphering my 14-year-old niece's text codes!

Glad you and TG have some way for open communication!

My son and I communicate this way too....like "Go to bed!"
It's harsh seeing what they really feel.
Being a boy my son doesn't really let it out, which isn't good. xx

we started with this lark when my son went to uni last year. I'd had an account and had some old work colleagues as friends, anyway my wife has become quite an addict to it. But at least we have access to our daughters page which is useful in someways and I'm glad she is open about that with us.

My status is often "why am I sitting here wasting time on this tosh" or similar. Sometimes there are "conversations" with my daughter about music on it as well which amuse my friends if nothing else.
