What did you do last week?

The half term break was a welcome respite from what has been a really busy time. Having a new job, I have realised, takes up more energy and thinking than just trundling through the ins and outs of the normal routine. Added to that we have been dealing with Tall Girls injury, poor thing, fetching and carrying things for her as well as taking her to school and back. I hadn't anticipated the impact on the whole family routine. I am hoping, now that she is managing on only one crutch, that she will be able to catch the school bus this new term, as normal, which will mean Small Sprog doesn't have to sit in the car for an hour before being delivered to school! Fingers crossed.

So the break was welcome for all. We spent a fantastic long weekend in Wales and the weather was kind to us. We also cooked and carved and saw friends. Here is our week, briefly, in pictures...

We went here (Paxtons Tower)

and the beach, which always makes me happy,

and here, The National Botanic Garden of Wales, with the largest single span greenhouse in the world!

Small Sprog and his friend made these

and we all made this, our Christmas Cake full of wishes.

The week has gone so quickly and today all the tension of being back at work has filled my body again. Last week feels like a distant dream. Still, it's only 4 more days to the weekend and only 7 more weeks of school until the Christmas Holidays! I must not wish our lives away! (55 Sleeps 'till Christmas!)

So funny that you mention the term break over there. I was in Mexico for a holiday with friends and they kept wondering why there were so many families from the UK at the resort. I had to explain they were on a different term system than we are in the US and that it was their break.

The wife and I love Wales... so jealous, especially as you seem to have caught the one week of blue sky and sunshine that Wales gets in a year...

55 sleeps to Christmas - I like it. If only those difficult days wouldn't get in the way.

It's easy to forget new jobs can be a bit exhausting until you get settled into the new routines. Hopefully your workmates are helping you to acclimatise.

Glad you had such a lovely break during half term.
It does seem back to the grindstone now, though I only work two evenings a week these days. Might up my hours at some point.
Hope Tall Girl can manage the school bus and give you a break.
Hate these dark evenings.
Please don't wish your time away!

I'm glad you enjoyed half term, I do hope Tall Girl is well on the road to recovery. What do you mean 55 sleeps to Christmas!!! It can't be!
I haven't even started to think about making a cake yet.

You had quite the adventurous, didn't you?! I'm glad that mid-term break was a break for the whole family.

Hoping Tall Girl is getting much better, and will be more independent. And I really enjoy the pumpkin carving of Small Sprog and friends.

I haven't gotten around to Christmas cake yet. Soon, perhaps.

Good luck for the second half of the term.

I spent so much of life doing this--counting the days until the next holiday. You don't want to wish your life away, but I know it's hard not to when work and all seems a bit overwhelming. Looks like you had a beautiful weekend, though. I would love to visit Wales!

Poor Tall Girl--how much longer does she have to wear her cast? I hope she's able to get around better soon.

Wow at least you pack it all in when you do have the time. Wishing you well and I don't think you should ever give up your dream of that rose covered cottage. One day....

YAY!!

...I have to warn you, I'm not keen on countdowns to Christmas; they put me in a panic. :/

;D
