I have just phoned my mother, she was tipsy, I could hear my step father rabbiting away in the background and belching!
It was only 4pm!
"What are you celebrating?"I asked her.
"I can't remember" She giggled
"What are you drinking?"
"Cheap champagne!" Slurring slightly
"Any left?" I asked
"Not much"
Say no more!
There is something about being over 70 that seems to make drinking in the afternoon more acceptable, don't you think?!! Honestly, the older generation..........

Some oldies tell me they drink more because it helps to dull all their aches and pains. That's their excuse anyway....
Well I am so glad she's OK and I guess she is too, thus the champagne! I have been back a few posts to catch up and feel bad I didn't manage to pop over when you were going through it. I am having touble getting onto the computer it just seems to be mayhem all the time!
Re. the list, try not to think about it and go into self-preservation auto-pilot.
Hoping you have a good weekend. x
Well, I've only got 15 years to go.
Not that it - hic - stops me.
Good for them - bet they've earnt every quaff!
Never mind drinking in the afternoon when you're 70, we do it and we're only 60! Hic
I may have left a message as googler 'Damian' is so, it's really me posing as my hubster by mistake!
Not many things about being 70 that I could look forward to apart from drinking in the middle of the afternoon!
oh god, when I get to 70 I am going to be pissed all the time!
Good on your Mama I say. Life is for living, and no worries, when you are 70 let the good times roll!
Have a great weekend Suburbia
love from Letty ;0D
You know the older generation get worse and worser!! I give up to be honest...something should be done...
My mother wouldn't have her sherry until 6pm.
so when she was staying with us we would put the clock forward........!
Hope you are doing OK?
Two early by far and I AM the older generation! Watch what you say gal!
A drink, a giggle, a snooze: life of the retirees. It beats driving on freeways.
Well...I still have 15 years until I reach 70 but reaching 50 was pretty liberating in itself. HA!
As long as it's past 12 then it's completely acceptable to have a drink :-)
C x
Maggie, there's now way you are anywhere near 70 yet!
Yes, but they're in bed by 7pm. Mind you, I'm usually not far behind!
Good for your Mum! After her near-scare last week, I think she should celebrate. As for me, when I get old, I'm going to eat all the chocolate I want...in fact, I might just start now:)
Rose, I am ahead of you!
Good for them!
