"Sit up a bit to eat that, or you'll get it all over you" I say, as he tries to eat yogurt semi horizontal.
"I hate it when you are more sensible than me" He retorts!
Now what does that say about my parenting skills, I ask you?!
Hope you all had a great weekend? It's nearly the school holidays you know!

He's resenting being mothered! I bet he can fend for himself in most situations. So, go on Mom, leave the fledgling alone for a while to make his own messes.
I like to think I am always more sensible than my kids. 50% of the time I'm right :)
I'm glad you're writing these all down in your blog--you could write a book one day: "The Wisdom of Small Sprog":)
It means that you are capable of great fun and that he sees you as a friend as well as a mother!
Love it! And at least he was trying to eat it, unlike Charlie who has now decided yoghurt pots are for squeezing, and spraying the contents all over the kitchen!
I bet there are are plenty of situations where you could say the same. Unfortunately we adults are not as all-knowing as we like to think!
The school holidays started here on Tuesday, as I noticed immediately from the lack of people carriers dropping the little darlings at the nearby prep school.
I sometimes think that childhood is the wilful suspension of sensibleness. It's the only time you can do it. Let him revel while he can. ;-)
Oh I'm reminded daily about the impending school hols... normally by Mrs F rather than my daughter... :-)
Who'd work in the school? :-)
Ah I love this. You two have a great balanced relationship me thinks!
Teenager is definitely the parent in our house these days
That made me smile...What a brilliant thing to say :-D

I have got to the stage when my children are WAY more sensible than me.
Just back from my holidays and catching up, great to read a whole weeks post
Oh yes the holidays, I am so looking forward to Friday at 2.45 p.m. - no work for 7 whole weeks. Yippee!
Wait until he's bigger than you and pats your head as he passes by.
It drives me crazy,

Love it! The wisdom of small people!
You are being sensible (in a way) writing all this down. I should follow your example.
There's a Hadriana award for you over at mine. Hx
we are nearly three weeks into the school hols here, and why do all the department stores have signs up, two weeks before they break up, poor things, saying "Back To School" clothes etc.
When mine were young, they grew so fast it was not the right time to buy their clothes for the autumn term in May, they grew out of things so quick.
"Sunrise Sunset, quickly go the days, I don't remember growing older, when did they?"
Letty ;0D
HEHE I always tell the kids that if they didn't need parents to help them learn to make decisions, they could already be out with a job supporting me!
