ABC Wednesday....................

This week we have reached the letter O
O is for Orchid

This is my favourite.

I took these at Kew Gardens in London.

The rarest were kept behind glass

which made it hard to photograph them.

There were towers of Orchids everywhere.
I wish I had made a note of all their names!

ABC Wednesday is hosted by Mrs. Nesbit. To take part or see other
participants visit Mrs. Nesbits place!

Orhids are so exotic - good choice.

Nice orchids. The flowers have finally fallen off mine.

Beautiful! My sister has visited Kew. I would love to go when I can finally visit her. Are the blown glass sculptures still there? The artist spoke at my university graduation. Very odd man. Part of the speach showed a video of him in his bathtub. Naked!

Is it right that Orchids are actually part of the Onion family? I think that is so. We have many, many at work under glass and in our huge long hall of flowers and houseplants; it is nice to wander among them in the odd break from the office (looking at pretty women and pleasant Orchids, Lilies and a myriad of other colourful plants, and hearing our squawky Macaw, George too!)

Good pics Suburbia! Hope you had a nice day today?

Hello moments in suburbia.
Nice to meet you too!

Orchids are a little special, and you've captured them so well.

I will have to peruse your blog further. Refering to your daughter as Tall girl, justs makes me laugh

That is one variety of growing plant I have never had luck with, as well as jade and African violets. It seemed like when I was a little girl about the only kind of orchid a person could purchase was the type that was typically used for corsages. Now they come in every size and color! Your photos are lovely.

Great idea for this post. I couldn't think of a single word that started with "O"! I think my mind is going, but I try to keep that from my children. They are older than Small Sprog, but have similar ideas.
I'm being extra nice to eldest daughter-in-law because she is the one least likely to want to sign me into a home!
Glad that Tall Girl is going to be able to go to the school you wanted. I was fortunate enough that my kids were able to go to a good public school (the same place I taught), but there are far too many in the US where I wouldn't want to send my kids, either.

Mmmmm. I can smell those blossoms from all the way over the other side of cyberspace!

Me again; I just noticed Archie on your sidebar. I've been meaning to ask how your rabbits are doing.

Archie reminds me of Harry the Hedgehog I had in another life on another blog platform.
The pictures are lovely. I'm a long way up North from you and the weather is like a proper summer evening at the moment! Your flowers fit in nicely. The Orchid is a beautiful flower, my mum loved them. I think I once bought her one in a globe... I have a hazy memory about it but I think she liked it. :o)
