Like a true nature's child.

Tall Girl is off to camp this evening. I have been feeling edgy all week. I know this is totally irrational, she is a big girl now. She says she wants to go, she survived school camp (not under canvas though) and I really need to get a grip! I have given myself a good talking to (which hasn't worked) and I've tried Blogging but everyone else is having a much more interesting life so there's no one in to talk to!

Husband is taking her to the camping field because he thinks she will pick up my anxiety (now what made him think that?!) and by 5.30 she'll be there and I am hoping for the 'out of sight out of mind' effect to 'kick in'?! If that doesn't work then there's the wine bottle to drown my sorrows but can I risk it? What if something happens and I need to go and get her back? Look, I know I'm pathetic. Writing is therapy OK?

On a happier note, Small Sprog was playing with is dragon collection before school this morning. He came down the stairs with one dragon egg under each arm. 'Look, I'm hatching dragons' he shouted at the top of his voice for the whole street to hear.
'Very nice' I mumble as I get on with sorting the dishwasher.
He leaves the kitchen by the other door and as he goes I can hear him singing 'Born to be wild...!
Where does he get it from?!!

And just in case you now have it in your head and want to sing along here's the rest of the words;
'Get your motor runnin
'Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

She will be a-ok and so will you. Go ahead and have a glass or two of wine. It will help you relax about it.
Dragon eggs?

Hi Scargosun, Thanks I am on my
2nd glass already (have thrown caution to the wind!!)
SS's dragon eggs are plastic! They come with 'bits' of dragon inside that you can build up into ( quite realistic) dragons. A bit like Lego.

You are a brave mother. She will be fine. Part of being a mother, as I'm sure you noticed (!) is worrying...a lot.
I even worry about other people's children.
It was 83F today.
Will be 90'F tomorrow. Too hot for me.

Hi there, I'm glad you found me over at Willow House. Your daughter will be just fine but if it's any consolation I never have that glass of wine until they are all home safe and sound and my eldest is 18!

Tall girl will be absolutely fine! Just get blogging & pour yourself some wine! She will be back before you know it & you will wish you had used the time more effectively! Lecture over!!!!!!

Breath deep... I always wished that my parents had sort of 'made' me enjoy being away from home you know... I love to travel, but I always spend the first three days homesick. Maybe if I had just been told to 'get on with it' I wouldn't have such a fear of going and seeing and doing!

I hope she is okay!! x-x-x

Ok, now "Born to be Wild" will be going around in my head all evening.
I'm sure Tall Girl will be fine, but it's a mother's right to worry.
It must be about 10:00 PM your time right now, so if you're still blogging, we'll know why you might leave some strange comments--the wine bottle has been emptied!

I am sure she will be OK at camp, is it very far away? Its late now so she must be ok, I expect the wine has helped you to feel better about the whole thing. Anyway you can sit back and wait for the dragons to hatch!!

A little bit of Steppenwolfe to take you mind off of Tall Girl with Heir Commandant--that should do the trick! Well, that and the wine.

Sorry--not that life was interesting today, just far more challenging and no chance to blog. And now I have a date with a beer and then bed!

Hopefully you'll find ways to enjoy the weekend!

A good Mama worries! I hope both of you have a good weekend. Tall Girl is brave to do this. You are brave to let her go on this adventure. I hope the wine helped. As for Small Sprog and the music~I will be singing it all night!
