Goat, you must be kidding?!

This is for all those who commented about eating goat (from my last post), and I have to say it was delicious indeed. Not at all 'goaty' as I'd expected (that sort of after taste that you get form goats milk and cheese), and because it was cooked slowly, it was very tender. In the pot with it were; fresh herbs (coriander and dill), tomatoes, onion, red peppers, fresh spinach and black eyed beans, oh and quartered limes and chilli's. It was yummy and the company (no kid's present!) was also very good.

It has been a beautiful spring day here today and I have savoured it all. It seems such a very long time since the sun shone its warmth on to my skin, there is so much to look forward to. I do hope it will be a good summer.

PS. What noise do goats make? (live ones obviously, cooked ones are fairly quiet!)

Do they bleat, baa or something else entirely?

What does it matter what noise they make lol? That's really rubbing salt into the wounds after cooking the poor buggers in a pot.

Glad you had a fabby time.

BTW, they bleat. I saw one last week at Gorgie City Farm.

well, I shouldn't worry about the noise goats make, unless the one you ate in the delicious sauce you describe, started making it!!

I quite like goats cheese, not so keen on milk, but always imagine goat meat to be stringy for some bizarre and possibly uneducated reason.

Husband is down your way, and rang me up tonight to tell me how spring like and beautiful it was with him..........

"How was the weather with you?" he asks......."oh lovely" I lied.

Bloody rained here all day!

The UK - I ask you. Four seasons in one day.

Glad you enjoyed your meal and the evening.

And yes, I feel it in my bones, it will be a grrrrrreat summer. Apparently long range forecast is for a "hot one".

Letty ;0)

I think Hullabaloo is right--they bleat...and they eat everything in sight! Well, glad you enjoyed it, but with all those tasty ingredients in it, it could have been any kind of meat:)

We have had glorious weather, too; it just raises your spirits, doesn't it?

I think they Baa! Or maybe it is bleat as Hullaballoo says. Glad you had a good time. Wasn't nice to have a warm day! I hope your summer will be good in many ways.

No kids present--except the cooked one you were so enjoying! :D
I actually prefer goat to lamb. Most be my upbringing. And they bleat in a maaaaa sort of way. Yea for the sun!

I think they bleat as well. It's not really a sheep sort of bleat though (I think?)

Did you know on Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement), two goats were drawn up by lot; one was eaten and the other was released to take off the sins of the community with it- hence Scapegoat!

Yay! They Maaaa, and Mehhh! I know it was more of a 'Mmm' sound!!!(hee hee)

BS5, far too much religon for a Tuesday thanks!

Hi Suburbia - more goat and not so much religion then! Seeya.

I've never eaten goat but I do know they're stubborn creatures if they don't like you. I was on a farm once trying to move a goat to a new patch of grass and the little bugger wouldn't move an inch. He/she probably sensed immediately I was one of those heartless townies.

It sounds totally scrummy. Here in France they serve a lovely goats cheese and walnut salad as a starter.

Tell you what, never mind the noise they make - cooked or uncooked - what about the smell? I once made the mistake of stroking a goat...

We had goat in ... somewhere, i can't remember. Anyway, when it was cooked up with veg and spices, it just tasted like meat. I'm a connoisseur, me.

Glad you had a good meal with good company.

Goats get a bad press. Their cheese is very smelly, their haircuts are laughable and, if I am not mistaken, they are symbolic of the de-vil lol.

this is my patch said...

I think a goat makes a bleating noise? Some really great ingredients went into the goat dish. I hope the sunshine lasts well into the weekend, it really does help to blow all the cobwebs away. x

Goat? You'll be cooking for Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall next! ;-)

Well after your glowing recommendation I may try Goat if I get the chance! :)

When they were little the kids had a book about farm animals. It said sheep went 'baa' and goats went 'maa'. x

Remember, cashmere comes from goats, so they're not all bad. And they're lovely when curried!

I am reliably informed by my kids, who are experts in noises, that goats go 'meh'
